1793 (Aug. 3) Berne, Switzerland to Philadelphia Pa., docketed folded cover endorsed "p The Pigou" in red manuscript at lower right, carried privately to London, then by private ship Pigou from London Sep. 2nd to Philadelphia arriving Oct. 31st, entered mails with bold strike of Philadelphia "4" cents due 12mm handstamp for port of arrival ship letter, fresh and Extremely Fine, a scarce use from Switzerland.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

The Philadelphia 12mm "4" rating handstamp is recorded from 1792-1799 with only fifteen recorded examples.
