1870, 10¢ brown, horizontal pair, rich color, tied by quartered corks duplexed with "Yokohama, Japan, Nov 22" cds on 1871 gray folded cover to Milan, Italy, red "New York Paid All, Dec 27" exchange cds, endorsed "Via America" at top left, carried transatlantic by NDL Line Deautschland from New York Dec. 28th to Southampton arriving Jan. 7th, Milan (1.10) arrival backstamp; some tone spots mostly on reverse, Very Fine.

This cover was prepaid 20¢ for the 10¢ per ½ oz. transpacific rate plus 10¢ for the 10¢ per ½ oz. Italian Closed mail rate effective March 1, 1870.
