Fort Riley, K.T., May 17, bold balloon cds canceling on 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entire to the Governor of Kansas Territory - John Denver in Lecompton, with original 1858 enclosure regarding the new town "Junction City" being surveyed out near to Fort Riley, Very Fine. Estimate $100 - 150.
Built in 1853, Ft. Riley was located about 120 miles west of Ft. Leavenworth. It had a Post Office beginning December 20, 1855.
