Requirements:

In order to use the Real-Time Internet bidding system you will need to have a recent version of
Java software installed on your computer. Most computers will already have this installed, but
if you find that you cannot run the demonstration or Live Auction Interface, you can download
the latest version free of charge from www.java.com. Our Real-time internet bidding system
is compatible with both PC’s and Mac’s.

The following ports need to be open at your computer for our system to work:
- 9100 for the Demonstration
- 9007 for the Live Auction
- 4569, 5036 and 5060 for the audio
As there are so many different firewalls it is impossible to give a detailed procedure to open these ports.
If you are accessing the Live Auction from a large corporate or government network, there is a probability
that your IT department has these ports blocked. Consult your IT department to have these ports opened.
If you are on a small business or home network, and are just using Windows XP firewall, you will need
to add exceptions to the Windows firewall for each of the above mentioned ports.

How the Online Live Auction works:

1. Bidding starts in the auction room and the lot will be adjudicated ignoring the internet unless an
internet bidder has been recognised before the hammer comes down.

2. In the event of two Internet bidders bidding at the same moment, the server accepts the first bid
received and ignores the others at the same price. This explains why you may have bid but the next bid
is not yours. Please bid again to have a recognized bid.

3. In the event the Internet bidder and a floor bidder bid the same increment at the same moment, the
bidder first recognized by the auctioneer takes precedence.

4. Please click on the bid button as soon as possible as it may take a moment to connect to the server
due to different connection speeds around the world. Once your bid is relayed, the auctioneer notes
the presence of an Internet bidder and will keep the lot open to ensure you the chance to place your
last bid.

5. The display will show “GOING GOING GONE” in sequence, to confirm the end of the bidding. You must
enter your final bid the moment you see the first “GOING”.

Troubleshooting:

1) I cannot hear the auction.

Close your internet browser. Re-Open it and empty your cache by going to the Internet Options choice
on the Tools menu and clicking on the “Delete Files” button in the Temporary Internet Files section.
Go back to our website to Log In again. A message may appear when you log on asking you to download
Coretech webphone Active-X (this is the program that allows you to hear our auction). Please allow
this download to continue to install itself on your system (a yellow bar may appear at the top of
your browser asking if you want to allow/accept this Active-X - allow this also). Now when you click
on the button that says “Listen” at the bottom of the screen you will hear the auctioneer.

2) I don’t see the bidding screen - I have a blank gray screen or I have several error messages
(run time error, etc.).

You need to download the LATEST version of Java software. Go to www.java.com and click on the
“Download Now” button and follow the instructions until you get the message “Java Installed”.
Close your internet browser. Re-open it and empty your cache by going to the Internet Options
choice on the Tools menu and clicking the “Delete Files” button in the Temporary Internet Files
section. Go back to our website to Log In again. A message may appear when you log on asking you
to download Coretech webphone Active-X (this is the program that allows you to hear our auction).
Please allow this download to continue to install itself on your system (a yellow bar may appear
at the top of your browser asking if you want to allow/accept this Active-X - allow this also).

3) I have forgotten my password:

We don't currently have a way for users to retrieve forgotten passwords via the Internet. Unfortunately,
you will need to re-register and you will not be able to use the same login name you created when you
last registered. The system will not allow it.

4) I log in and I have the message 'connection refused' displayed:

You are presumably using a firewall and some ports need to be opened.
If you are using Windows XP and have the Windows Firewall enabled, you will need to disable the firewall,
or, recommended, add exceptions to the firewall for the following ports:
- 9100 for the Demonstration
- 9007 for the Live Auction
- 4569, 5036 and 5060 for the sound

In order to disable the Windows XP firewall: Click on the "Start" button in the Windows task bar
Open the control panel
Open the Windows Firewall
In the "General" tab select "Off"

We recommend that you leave your firewall on, however, and add exceptions for the ports.

Click on the "Start" button in the Windows task bar
Open the control panel
Open the Windows Firewall
Go to the "Exceptions" tab
Click the "Add Port" button to add a port for Demonstration
Enter "Live Auction Demonstration" for the name, "9100" for the port (without quotes)
Click OK.
Click the "Add Port" button to add a port for Live Auction
Enter "Live Auction" for the name, "9007" for the port (without quotes)
Click OK.
Click the "Add Port" button to add a port for Live Auction Audio
Enter "Live Auction Audio" for the name, "4569" for the port (without quotes)
Click OK.
Click the "Add Port" button to add a port for Live Auction Audio
Enter "Live Auction Audio" for the name, "5036" for the port (without quotes)
Click OK.
Click the "Add Port" button to add a port for Live Auction Audio
Enter "Live Auction Audio" for the name, "5060" for the port (without quotes)
Click OK.
