Beekman's Express, Jacksonville Oregon, ribbon frank on 3¢ red (U10) buff entire to Yreka, Cal., docketed "Rec'd March 24, 1861"; reduced at right, horizontal fold at top, F.-V.F., ex Dale-Lichtenstein.

After the failure of Adams in 1855 which was followed a few weeks later by Cram Rogers, Cornelius Beekman started an express from a base of operation at Jacksonville Ore. Terr. Routes ran to Yreka, Crescent City and Roseburg Ore. Beekman connected with Wells Fargo at Yreka and Tracy at Jacksonville. He left for an east coast during most of 1859, but returned and ran the company until selling out to Wells Fargo in 1863 and becoming the Wells Fargo agent at Jacksonville.

(on backflap), 1858 Wells, Fargo & Co. commission envelope from Beekman Express for a dentist in Jacksonville, 1860's with Mrs. Winslow's Soothing Syrup For Teething Children illustrated cover and letterhead, various other dental ad covers including illustrated teeth and cameo, later with an array of dental ad covers including allover designs, announcements, pamphlets, multicolored ad cards, carte-de-viste, illustrated ad postal cards, Exposition related covers, turn of the century multicolored ad covers including Pepsin Sticks and other gum manufacturers, etc.; most of the covers have been mounted with scotch tape; a wonderful collection for the dental enthusiast.

Near the end of 1855, Corneluis Beekman started his express operating from Jacksonville, O.T. with routes running to Crescent City, Roseburg, O. and Yreka where he connected with Wells, Fargo & Co.

Messenger, Feb 3 origin handstamp in blue, entered the mails with Jacksonville, Ogn., Feb 13 cds (Whittlesey 3, R 6), thus carried by Wells Fargo to Yreka where exchanged with Beekman, upper right corner missing, otherwise Very Fine, ex-Barkhausen.
