1873, 30¢ gray black, C.B.N.C. printing, grilled, full o.g., wide margins and rich distinctive color, strong well formed grill impression, a slight vertical bend which the certificate describes as a light vertical crease, Very Fine; with 2021 P.S.E. certificate.

ONE OF TWO CERTIFIED EXAMPLES OF THE 1873 30¢ CONTINENTAL BANKNOTE "J" GRILL ISSUE AND THE ONLY EXAMPLE BEARING FULL ORIGINAL GUM.

All Continental Banknote issues except for the 24¢ & 90¢ cent values can be found with the J grill. It is believed these were experimental and are quite scarce to extremely rare. The J grill is distinguished by it's 7x9.5mm grill. The 30¢ issue is the rarest of these grill issues with only two examples certified to date. The other example similarly bears a light vertical bend or fold.

"Hard Paper" Special Printing, without gum as issued, well centered amid wide margins, with usual scissor clipped perfs well outside margins, certificate mentions paper is slightly yellowed as many other special printings of this denomination appear, Very Fine appearance; with 1965 P.F. certificate.

AN ATTRACTIVE SOUND EXAMPLE OF THE 1875 6¢ SPECIAL PRINTING ISSUE.

The Siegel census records 36 examples with approximately half having trimmed perfs on at least one side and others having small faults or poor centering.

"Hard Paper" Special Printing, without gum as issued, typical trimmed perfs, well centered with rich bold color on bright paper, small thin at top, Extremely Fine appearance, it is believed that approximately 75 examples of this Special Printing exist; with 2021 Crowe certificate.
