Esmeralda, N.T., Sep 30, 1863, cds canceling on 1861, 3¢ pink entire to Hammersmith, England with black Wells, Fargo & Co. frank at top, uprated with 1863, 5¢ brown, vertical pair on front and horizontal strip of four on reverse (76), all canceled by target handstamps, red "N. York Br. Pkt., Paid 19" exchange and London arrival cds's; entire with some edge wear and opened at sides for display, strip with small flaws, F.-V.F.; with 2007 P.F. certificate.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

This cover is one of the most important usages of the "Esmeralda. N. T." postmark and was also used in the California Period before being transferred to Nevada on January 20, 1864.
