Boston." portrait imprint, on cover to Sherborn, Mass., franked with 1857, 3¢ dull red (26) canceled by grid handstamp, matching Watertown, Mass., Aug 7 cds; cover slightly reduced with couple vertical folds and sealed tear under stamp, otherwise Very Fine, a very rare patriotic 1860 Beardless Lincoln campaign envelope (Milgram rarity 3, 1-5 known).

The beardless Lincoln design was used for the 1860 Presidential Campaign. Whittemore & Co. added the American flags and caption in a separate printing process to create this exceptional Civil War patriotic design.
