1861, 3¢ rose, tied by double strike of fancy cogwheel cancel duplexed with "San Francisco, Cal., Oct 22, 1864" double-circle datestamp on yellow cover to New York City, San Francisco bold "Too Late" double-oval handstamp, endorsed "Per Steamer"; reduced slightly at right and some edge wear, Very Fine, ex-Mitchell.

1861, 3¢ rose, tied by "Syracuse N.Y., Nov 12" cds on buff cover with green "Syracuse House" flap cameo to Chicago Ill., forwarded with blue "Chicago, Ills, Nov 14" cds and matching fancy "Forwarded 3" oval handstamp to Saratoga Springs N.Y.; flap tear affects cameo, reduced slightly at left, Very Fine and scarce Chicago auxiliary marking, ex-Mitchell.

Feb 3" cds on legal-size yellow cover to Luxembourg, pencil "Hamburg Mail" endorsement, red "New York, Paid All, Direct Feb 9" exchange cds, carried by HAPAG Line Cimbria from New York Feb. 9th to Hamburg arriving Feb. 21st, dark red "Hamburg, 22/2 69, Franco" framed transit (VDL 1678), reverse with Luxembourg (2.23) entry cds and Grevenmacher (2.24) arrival cds; repaired cover tears, couple small stamp flaws, F.-V.F. appearance, An exceptionally rare use prepaid at two-times the 10¢ NGU direct rate via Hamburg.

THE ONLY RECORDED 1861 ISSUE USE TO LUXEMBOURG.

Luxembourg was a very rare destination during the 19th century with only a small group recorded. We record three 1851 Issue covers and only two 1870 Bank Note issue pre-UPU uses.
