Hawaii, 1893, 10¢ black, red overprint, used with 2¢ dull violet, red overprint (57) single and pair, all tied by purple four-ring cancels, matching "Honolulu, Hawaii, Jun 8, 1894" cds, "Registered" R and "A.R." handstamps on 2¢ carmine (U11) entire to Cincinnati, Ohio, endorsed from "C.V. Sturdevant, Honolulu, H.I." at top, reverse with San Francisco (6.30) transit and Cincinnati (7.17) arrival oval, Very Fine and attractive registered use.

Hawaii, 1893, 10¢ red brown, red overprint, Position 40 with sheet margin at right, o.g., unusually wide margins for this stamp, rich color, Signed in pencil on back., Extremely Fine, ex-Drucker.

A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THIS RARE ERROR IN THE FINEST CONDITION ATTAINABLE. ONLY ONE SHEET OF 50 WAS ISSUED.

Two errors of the 1893 Provisional Government Overprint Issues were made. One sheet of the 10¢ Red Brown, normally overprinted in black, was overprinted in red (Scott 61B) and one sheet of the 6¢ Green, normally overprinted in red, was overprinted in black (Scott 66C). Most of the 10¢ examples from the only sheet of fifty produced, are centered into the perforations at top. It is believed that eight examples were destroyed from the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and that less than forty examples are in existence.

Hawaii, 1893, 10¢ red brown, red overprint, large part o.g., centered low and clear of perfs (better centered than normal), strong bold color, F.-V.F., with virtually all known examples have perfs cutting into the design at top.

A HANDSOME MINT EXAMPLE OF THE 1893 10¢ KALAKAUA RED OVERPRINT ERROR.

Most of the examples from the only sheet of fifty produced, are centered into the perforations at top. It is believed that eight examples were destroyed from the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and that less than forty examples are in existence.
