Lot 4369 /o   

Mexico, 1864-1866 Major Used Imperial Eagle Collection, main district offices only, it took the owner over 60 years to assemble this collection and it was consignor's original first love of the classic stamps of Mexico; over the years he upgraded 3 margin stamps to 4 margin stamps and exchanged stamps with thins for those without, it is arranged in one large stockbook (44 sides) for the 5 periods, a detailed pricing and wants list is included, with a total of about 1,430 stamps (more than 100 of the 8 reales and 150 of the medios), there are many scarce and hard-to-find items in this collection, Follansbee value from the 2015 edition is over $58,300, this is a major life-time collection of this issue, there is the odd scattering of mint/unused stamps and even a few sub-offices although this is strictly a collection of the used main district offices, with items ex-Moorhouse, Pietsch, Morris Estate (Schuyler Rumsey) and "Follansbee auctions", included is a checklist of all periods by both district and period.
Estimate    $10,000 - 15,000.
