1852, 1¢ blue, type IV, Position 73L1L, recut once at top and bottom, four nice margins, bright color and paper with sharp impression, neatly tied by "Albany N.Y. Oct 17" cds on 1854 folded printed proxy from the New York Central Railroad Company with printed address to Albany N.Y., vertical file fold at left, fresh and Very Fine, a choice drop letter use, ex-Middendorf.

1852, 1¢ blue, type IV, major double transfer, Position 97L1L, recut once at top, major double transfer which is especially noticeable at bottom, ample margins to clear, tied by "Hartford Ct. Apr 5" cds on April 2, 1855 folded circular from Hartford Probate Court addressed locally, a Very Fine drop letter use, ex-Middendorf.

1852, 1¢ blue, type IV, double transfer, Position 72L1L, recut once at top and bottom, with large double transfer, large margins, bright shade, tied by "New-York Feb 13" cds on blue 1856 folded Cyrus W. Field & Co. circular printed in magenta, addressed to Lee Mass., clear strike of red "Circular Paid" straightline handstamp at top left, circular advertises a variety of fine rag papers, Extremely Fine.

Cyrus West Field (1819-1892) was an American businessman and financier who, along with other entrepreneurs, created the Atlantic Telegraph Company and laid the first telegraph cable across the Atlantic Ocean in 1858. He was involved in many other enterprises including paper manufacturing.
