Sonora, California, Apr 27, 1852 (Tuolumne), blue two-line postmark (Williams TUO-1340) and matching blue partial "Paid" and bold "10" in Circle rating handstamps on folded letter to Clarksville Tenn. datelined "Sonora April 25th 1852" from a miner writing home to his love interest who wishes him to return home, some good mining content "…I am still turning up the earth in search of the yellow ore and still to some profit…My partner and myself have insisted some friends in the purchase of claims on the Tuolumne River which I think will yield a good return and which cannot be worked before the 1st of August on account of the water…"; some edge wear, Very Fine.

Sonora, California, May 2, 1852 (Tuolumne), blue two-line postmark (Williams TUO-1340) with matching blue "10" in Circle rating handstamp on blue folded letter to Keeseville N.Y.; letter bleed through and couple tiny edge tears, Fine, ex-Knapp, Polland, Newton.

Sonora, Cal. (Tuolumne), black straightline postmark (Williams TUO-1360) with manuscript date "17 May '52" and matching "Paid 6" rating on buff cover to Sterling, Massachusetts; edge tear at left and wear, cover somewhat worn & with sealed tear at left, F.-V.F., a very rare Sonora straightline use.

Aug 6 (Tuolumne), cds (Williams TUO-1380) with matching grid cancel ties 3¢ dull red (11) bottom sheet margin single on orange buff cover to San Jose, Santa Clara Cal., manuscript "missent" at left and matching "Santa Clara Cal Aug 10" forwarding postmark; 3¢ creased in margins, a Very Fine use.

"Staples Ranch, Cal. Dec 19th" (San Joaquin), manuscript postmark (SAJ-2250) on 1851 gray folded letter to Sacramento City bearing manuscript canceled 3¢ orange brown (10A), stamp with small wrinkle from wax seal underneath, Very Fine, The earliest known usage from Staples Ranch, ex-Salzer.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

"Unionville, Cal. Aug. 15. 1861." (El Dorado), neat manuscript postmark (ELD-3990) on lemon cover bearing oen canceled 3¢ dull red (26) to Placerville Cal.; flap missing and small piece replaced at top just slightly affecting the "U" of "Unionville", still Very Fine, the only recorded example from this 1 year town, ex-Jessup, Newton, Pearce, Tatham.
Estimate    $200 - 300.
