1855, 10¢ green, types II & III, vertical combination pair, positions 27-37L1, large margins to just clear at lower right, strong color, tied by "New Orleans La., Dec 10" cds on light blue folded cover to Vera Cruz, Mexico, endorsed "p Calhoun" at lower left, blue "Puig & Avendano, New Orleans" oval flap seal handstamp, Mexican bold "2" reales inland postage due handstamp; file fold with few tiny erosion spots, Very Fine; with 2005 P.F. certificate.

1855, 10¢ green, type II, full to large margins, strong color, tied by "Philadelphia Pa." cds on folded cover to Toronto, Canada, Nov. 6th arrival backstamp and red "5d" exchange handstamp, "Edwin J.H. Pauley, Halifax, N.S." stamp collector's handstamp, Very Fine.
Scott No. 14    Estimate $150 - 200.

J.H. Pauley was a stamp collector who was Member #23 of the Philatelic Society of Canada (founded in 1891).

1855, 10¢ green, type III, horizontal pair, four margins, used with 1¢ blue (9), full to large margins, tied by three strikes of "Mobile Ala., Jul 16" cds on gray 1856 folded letter to Alencon, France at the 21¢ British Open Mail rate by American packet, red "New-York, Am. Pkt. Jul 26" exchange cds, red Le Havre (8.9) arrive cds and "6" decimes due handstamps, Alencon (8.10, 8.11) arrival backstamps; stamps just affected by some light toning, F.-V.F.

1851, 12¢ gray black, mostly large margins except barely touched at bottom left, used with 3¢ dull red (11A), single and strip of three, each cancelled by circular grid cancel, perfect bold blue "Buffalo N.Y., Mar 7" cds on orange buff cover to Dorset, England, New York red "19" cent credit to G.B. handstamp, red Liverpool (3.21) entry cds; 3¢ single faulty corner, a Very Fine use and scarce franking for the 24¢ packet rate.

Mar 15" exchange cds also ties 12¢, endorsed "Paid to England", London (3.28) transit backstamp, Calais (3.29) entry cds, Genoa (4.1) transit backstamp, manuscript "10" decimes due rating, Very Fine and scarce use of 12¢ 1851 overpaying the 21¢ British Open Mail rate by 3¢.
