1861, 12¢ black, used with 3¢ red (94), s.e. at right, each tied by matching blue four-ring cancels, matching blue "Cherokee Cal., Nov 7" cds on orange cover to Radeburg, Saxony, red "New York, Paid All, Br. Transit, Nov 25" exchange cds, red "Verviers-Coeln Franco" (12.7) transit Dec. 8th arrival backstamp, F.-V.F. and scarce California use, ex-Gliedman.

1861, 30¢ orange, vertical pair, used with 12¢ black (69), each tied by fancy geometric cross-roads cancel, matching "Newburyport Mass., May 15" cds on 1865 orange buff cover to Bombay, India, endorsed "Via Marseilles" at top left, red "Boston Br. Pkt. '40' 16 May" credit exchange cds, carried on the Cunard Scotia departing New York May 17th to Queenstown arriving May 26th, red London Paid (5.27) transit cds and red "1d" Colonial credit handstamp, docketed "ansd, 6 July"; top 30¢ light soiling, no flap and small mended top edge tear, cover with some acidification at right affecting right 30¢, 12¢ with blunted perfs at top, F.-V.F. appearance, ex-Gliedman.
Scott No. 71    Estimate $750 - 1,000.

Cover was prepaid for the 72¢ Bremen-Hamburg rate via Marseilles, but actually sent at 45¢ British Mail via Marseilles with a 40¢ credit to G.B.

1861, 30¢ orange, pair and two singles, tied by circular grid cancels, magenta "Danville Pa., Jul 16, 1862" double-circle datestamp on orange buff cover to Bleichheim, Germany, red "N. York, Am. Pkt. Paid Jul 19" exchange cds with magenta "28" cent credit rating, red "Aachen, Franco 5/8" framed exchange with blue crayon "2"; some cover wear and small flaws, right 30¢ faulty from edge placement, F.-V.F. and scarce double-weight Prussian Closed Mail use.

1861, 30¢ orange, two singles, tied by NYFM circular grid cancels, two partial strikes of red "New York 'Paid 48' Jan 13" credit exchange cds on gray Payen correspondence to Lyon, France, endorsed per "Steamship Persia" at top, red Calais (1.25) entry cds and matching small "PD" framed handstamp, reverse with Paris (1.25) transit and Lyon (1.26) arrival cds, F.-V.F. use at four-times the 15¢ rate.

Pkt., Paid, Oct 8" exchange cds on 1862 folded cover to Amsterdam, Netherlands, carried as endorsed by Cunard Line Scotia, British "1/-" schilling debit rating, red Amsterdam (10.20) arrival backstamp and ms. "80" Dutch cents due rating, Very Fine and choice use at the 5¢ open mail rate to the Netherlands.

1863, 5¢ brown, pair and two singles, top left s.e., tied by open star in circle cancels on registered 3¢ pink (U59) buff entire to Barton Vt., matching "Jordan N-Y, Mar 20 '68" cds duplexed with four-ring cancel also ties left stamps; entire faulty with small corner mend, Fine and scarce prepaid 20¢ registered use.
