1869, 2¢ brown, tied by New York fancy geometric cancel on unsealed "Western Union Telegraph" corner card cover addressed to Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, Utah; light soiling and wear, F.-V.F. and rare use to Brigham Young.

Brigham Young (1801-77) was an American religious leader and politician. He was the second president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1847 until his death in 1877. During his time as church president, Young led his followers, the Mormon pioneers, west from Nauvoo, Illinois to the Salt Lake Valley. He founded Salt Lake City and served as the first governor of the Utah Territory. Young also worked to establish the learning institutions which would later become the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.

1869, 2¢ brown, horizontal pair, tied by bold quartered cork duplexed with "New Orleans La., Jun 23" cds on 1870 yellow cover to Paris, France, red "New-York, Jun 28" exchange cds, red London (7.9) transit backstamp and "GB/40" accountancy handstamp, Calais (7.9) entry cds and "5" decimes due rating, Very Fine use at the 4¢ British open mail rate, ex-Gibson.

1869, 15¢ brown & blue, type I, rich colors, tied solely by New York "Insufficiently Paid" straightline on 1870 cover to Aargau, Switzerland, black "New York, Br. Transit, Mar 29" cds and blue crayon "2" indicating double weight, "VIA OSTENDE" straightline, Basel (4.13) and Aarau (4.13) transit backstamps, blue crayon "75" and Swiss red crayon "95" rappen final due rating; cover exploded and lightly cleaned, small tears mended and put back together, Very Fine appearance, unusual with the stamp canceled solely by the auxiliary marking treated as unpaid, ex-John R. Hill Jr., Don David Price; with 1999 P.F. certificate.
