Langton's & Bro.'s Express, French Corral, blue ornately framed handstamp struck on reverse of orange buff cover to Freeport Ill., entered mails with blue "Marysville Cal '10' Aug 15" integral-rate cds; large cover tear and corner faults with some toning, Fine and rare Langton's use from French Corral.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

This is an extremely rare Langton's marking, the town of French Corral was founded in 1849 and named for a Frenchman who built a corral for his mules, gold was later discovered there. Nathan noted that this was one of the scarcest of all the Langton handstamps with only four known.
