Official Seal - Typeset, dark blue, Type 4, affixed on reverse of cover bearing 2¢ carmine tied by "State College Pa. Jul 16 1913" machine cancel to Patton Pa., pencil notation "Opened by Mistake, Mrs. Yeager", forwarded back to State College with Patton Jul. 19th cds, Very Fine and rare use.

Lot 1881    

Typeset Seal, dark blue, no period after "D", used to seal top edge of cover bearing Sweden 20õ blue tied by "Sundsvall" Jul. 19th 1912 cds to Kent City Mich., Oct. 14th arrival cds, forwarded to Grand Rapids after arrival; seal split from opening, overall toning, Fine and unlisted use, Only Four Recorded Examples.

Lot 1882    

Official Seal - Typeset, black, Berkeley, Cal., affixed over right edge of envelope and 2¢ Bureau Issue, from Berkeley to the "Cal. Track Team" in Princeton N.J., cover returned to Berkeley where seal was applied and forwarded to Campbell Cal., "Due 2 cts." straightline handstamp, several additional postal markings track its journey back and forth, Fine and extremely rare use with only two covers known.

Official Seal - Typeset, black, affixed over top of green cover and with ms. "Grafton Stone Co." to Cleveland Stone Co. in Grafton O., town name crossed out and "try Beria" written in, with 2¢ 1894 Issue tied by cork, Greenwich, Grafton and Berea circular datestamps of Oct. 1898; 2¢ defective, a Very Fine use, ex-Hopkins, Lyons, Richardson; with 1976 P.F. certificate.

Lot 1884    

Official Seal - Typeset, blue, affixed to seal top edge of cover bearing 3¢ Franklin coil tied by "Coldwater Ohio July 28 1918" duplex to Delmar Del., opened in error and reclosed at Smyrna with purple "Missent to Smyrna Del" two-line handstamp and then sent on to correct address; roughly opened at left but seal undamaged, Fine and unique example of this seal, ex-Lyons.

Official Seal - Typeset, red on rose, repaired tear and creases, accompanied by original 2¢ entire from which it originated sealing right edge, canceled by "Seattle Wash., Mar 1, 1907" machine cancel to Ballard Wash., returned unclaimed, Fine, only two recorded examples, ex-Lyons.

Lot 1886    

Official Seal - Typeset, black, affixed over top of legal-size cover from U.S. House Speaker David B. Henderson to Paris, France bearing 10¢ 1897 issue as free franking privileges did not extend to international mail, tied by "Dubuque Iowa May 13 1901" duplex, ms. notations in both English and French state letter was opened in error in Paris, letter resealed in Paris with pieces of stamp selvage and handstamped with two-line "Retour A L'Envoyeur", returned to Washington (due to Speaker of House return address), N.Y. Foreign Section "Paid All" in circle handstamp, readdressed to Vermilion, South Dakota and additionally franked with 2c 1897 Issue tied by "Colfax Iowa Oct 1" cds, typeset seal added in either Colfax or Vermilion and tied by "Vermilion Oct 3" cds, a Very Fine use, the only recorded example of this unusual large seal, illustrated in Scott..

Iowa congressman and Civil War veteran David B. Henderson was the 39th Speaker of the House of Representatives, serving from 1899-1903.

Lot 1887    

Official Seal - Typeset, green, Signed, part of circular datestamp at bottom, faults incl. tears, soiling and heavy creasing from being folded over edge of envelope, Fine appearance, still a great rarity and the unique listing example.

Typeset Seal Collection, wonderful balance of the Barlow collection starting with LOX1 types 1-5 plus a couple extras, LOX5 (five), LOX8 mint and used large group of various settings and positions incl. two on piece (ex-Kotanchik), LOX8 setting 2 pane of 4, LOX8a mint and used, LOX8 block, LOX8 on two covers, LOX8d on faulty cover, LOX8f mint and used, LOX9 mint (2) and used (2) with types 1-3, LOX10 (2), large study of LOX11 including LOX11a double impression unused, blocks, LOX11d used, LOX11f, LOX11i tete-beche pair, LOX11h mint, LOX11E used, LOX12 mint (4) with two types, LOX13, LOX17 mint and used, LOX18 mint (3 with types 1 & 2), LOX18A mint and used, LOX18A used on cover, LOX19 mint and two used including one on piece; some faults, F.-V.F. collection providing a great foundation to this difficult area, high catalog value.
