THE ONLY RECORDED USAGE OF THE 10¢ 1885 SPECIAL DELIVERY ISSUE ON A POSTAL CARD WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF USE.

Special Delivery was generally used by the public to expedite letters and time sensitive material or goods. The service was seldom used for cards or letter sheets and when used were quickly discarded. This accounts for the general scarcity of these items.

Postal Card, 1894, 1¢ black on buff, used card, reverse with multicolored "The United States Express Company" printed ad showing Horse and Wagon with Train and Depot in Foreground, with purple Oswego, N.Y. handstamp at bottom right, locally addressed with Oswego, N.Y., Dec 4, 1898 cds and bar duplex canceling, a Very Fine and striking design, very rare with only a handful of examples known.
