Hawaii, 1890-99 Usages to Japan, three covers; 1890 Wailuku, Maui to Wakayama franked with 1884, 10¢ red brown (44) tied by origin (285.012) and Honolulu postmarks, 1899 Koloa, Kauai to Tochigi franked with 1894, 5¢ rose lake (76) tied by origin cds, and 1899 Honolulu to Wakayama franked with 1899, 5¢ blue (82) with original merchant letterhead enclosure; former with partial backflap and second with slight rough opening, F.-V.F.

Hawaii, Consulate General of Japan, Honolulu, H.I., Aug 24, 1894, purple oval date stamp on incoming Japan 3s green postal card to the Japan Consulate in Honolulu, canceled by "Mino Mitake 24.12.7" cds (Dec 7, 1891), Yokohama transit and receiving postmarks, with light Honolulu Advertised cds (ADV-cds(no year)-I) and purple "Dead Letter Office, Mar 29, 1894" cds (754) struck over two year later, light "Pas Reclame/Unclaimed" handstamp on reverse; card toning and scuff affecting indicia, Fine, still a very rare and seldom seen Consulate marking.
