Mexico, 1856-61 Hidalgo Issue Collection, nicely formed collection housed on Sanchez/Garcia pages in Lighthouse album, showing basic representation of the issues by district including the occasional cover or two at times and additional multiples; some districts sparse but good to better throughout, highlights including 4r Campeche with socked-on-the-nose fancy mute cancel, Chalco to the 2r, Cuernavaca Dilengencias, Durango 4r bisects on fronts, Guadalajara strong including ½r strips on cover, ½r strip of 6 off cover, large margin 8r, etc., nice Guanajuato with covers and 8r, Mazatlan with three nice on cover usages, Mexico including Dilengencias, multiples, 8r, covers, Morelia including 4r bisects on piece, good Puebla and Queretaro, Soyaniquilpan with 2r on cover, good Veracruz, Zacatecas with 2r provisional manuscript overprint, etc., also includes a representative section of the 1816 second issue; condition varies with many nice items throughout.

Mexico, Comprehensive Collection Two Volumes 1856-1989, mint and used collection in mounts in two clean, well filled Scott Specialty albums, 19th Century mostly used to 1910, then mainly mint with much NH thereafter, better used including Scott #12, 736, C212, mint #585 (signed Follensbee), 795A, 828 n.g., 837-51, 909, 951, specialized Exportas 1975-89 with/scarce 1136a, C74 Amelia Earhart "Muestra" overprint, C93A Sanabria NH, C249 etc., also nice back of book with/air officials, special delivery, insured letter, postage due, Porte de Mer officials and postal tax, owner's Scott $13K+, well worth review, Fine to Very Fine+.

Lot 3409    

Mexico, Unauthorized Reprints and Color Errors of the 1856 & 1861 Issue, unusual selection of 75 stamps reveals the array of color errors, rarely seen on the 1856 and 1861 issue reprints, arranged in clear mounting to allow the back of the stamps to be easily seen, as to the variety of papers used and opaque features, although reprints are not uncommon color errors of these are quite unusual.

Lot 3410

Mexico, 1856-61, Spiro Bros. Counterfeit Sheets, Stuart type IX counterfeits were lithograph printed in sheets of twenty five on wove paper, the 1856 sheet set contains the values of ½ to 4 Reales as the 8 Reales denomination does not exist, the 1861 set contains five valuations as the the ½ Real and 4 Real on black and yellow are nonexistent, the main difference from genuine on these are the very thin letters "J, I, C" in MEXICO and the open "C" in Correos, type IX Sheets are infrequently seen in complete sets.

Mexico, 1861-68 Hidalgo Issue Collection, nicely formed collection housed on Sanchez/Garcia pages in Lighthouse album with additional material in three stockbooks, showing basic representation of the issues by district including the occasional cover or two at times and additional multiples; some districts sparse but good to better throughout, highlights including Guadalajara with three ½r blocks with one on cover, Huejuta 2r with and without overprint used in Tuspan, Mazatlan 4r, Mexico with all values represented, Dilengencias including on cover, Morelia with 8r black (cert), Orizava to the 4r black, good Puebla including covers, Queretaro, S.L.P. with nice 4r red, etc., also includes a section of Gothic issues on and off cover missing only the rarer items, stockbooks with many nice items and a few surprises; inspection highly recommended.

Mexico, 1864-66 Eagle Issue Group, about a dozen and a half items on stockcards in stockbook with virtually all valued in the $30-$80 range; includes 1r 5th period Durango pair on fresh cover, 1st period 2r+4r Mexico on piece, 1st period 2r Tampico, 1st period 2r pair with neat cds, 3rd period 2r S.L.P. sub 66 (200 sent), also includes a few forgeries and the 1r "essay" including blocks.

Mexico, 1866-67 Maximilian Issue Collection, housed in two albums and stockbook; includes main mixed mint and used collection by district and consignment number with Mexico issues nearing completion, good showing of used Apam, complete Colima used and mostly complete Cordova, complete Guadalajara, with other district most well represented to near complete except for a few, some error numbers, etc., general collection on Sanchez-Garcia pages including a number of on cover usages and multiples with some good items throughout, also a stockbook with mostly extraneous material; inspection highly recommended for full evaluation.

Mexico, 1866-67 Maximilian Sub-Numbers & Offices Collection, specialized collections devoted not only to the numbered sub-office consignment but also the issues bearing no sub number but have cancels identifying the office of use; includes Apam with sub 12 13c & 25c mint multiples, Chalco mostly mint with three different 7c & 50c values, few Cordova subs mostly used, nice representation of Guadalajara, Guanajuato used with and without sub numbers, scarce Lagos 13c sub 37 (100 sent), mint Merida, good Puebla with some scarce mint & used, similar Queretaro, S.L.P. with couple used 7c values, etc.; many certs accompany (behind the pages), a nice collection for the sub-office specialist.

Mexico, Gothic Issue of 1867 Reference Collection, collection of 47 stamps and a cover, for this unusual area with twenty certificates showing examples of medio real, cuatro reales and ocho reales. Included are articles on the detection of Gothic overprint forgeries, a seldom seen reference area of Mexico and valuable to collectors of this area.

Mexico, 1868 Full Face Hidalgo Issue Collection, housed on special pages in Scott album and in bulging stockbook; album arranged by each district with thin figure issues quite sparse but a bit more representation in thick figures with 11 different 100c values present with a good range of other values, stockbooks stone with some covers, many good 100c values, etc., also includes forgery value and virtually all identified and valued; worth review.
