Lot 739 o   

Mexico, 1868, 25c-100c Full Face Hidalgo Group, 11 stamps with very large margins, 4 are 100c (thin and thick figures) and 4 are 50c (thin and thick figures), there is a 100c thin perforated unused (NF $650) 7-68 from Monterrey, has a thin but is very rare, F.-V.F. overall (NF $900+).
Estimate    $150 - 200.

Mexico, 1868, Hidalgo (thin figures, imperf), 100c brown on brown, Durango, cons 22-68, in combination with 1868, Hidalgo (thin figures, imperf), 50c black on yellow, horizontal pair, Durango, cons 22-68 on 1869 cover front to Mexico, all tied by bold Durango boxed date stamp (Schatzkes 240), "Durango, Abril 13, 69" cds (Schatzkes 238) in corners and manuscript "San L. Potosi, Abril 23/69" transit postmark, Very Fine, probably the rarest registered front of the district, ex-D. Stout (sold in 2009 for $4,200); signed J.K. Bash.

Mexico, 1872, Hidalgo perforated, 12c blue, "LA + F" watermark, con 31-73 (Orizava), eight stamps at left in bottom right corner margin block of 25 (other stamps Scott 94), o.g., Very Fine, a wonderful showpiece.

Mexico, 1872, Hidalgo perforated, 25c red, Cuautitlan, unwatermarked, no district name, cons 13-72, tied by oval Zumpango handstamp (Schatzkes 213) on 1872 folded letter, F.-V.F., a very rare usage from Zupango; signed J.K. Bash, with 2003 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.

Mexico, 1878, Hidalgo Profile, 10c orange, Zacatecas, cons 280, early formular card (Bamert FC1a) sent certified and with "AR" return receipt to Germany in 1893, in combination with 1878 5c, brown, Zacatecas, cons 279 + 1890, 5c Numeral on reverse (106+216), all tied by Zacatecas cds's, Very Fine, although the Hidalgo stamps were demonetized years earlier, it went through the mails, it bears an early C label.

Mexico, 1881, Hidalgo Profile, 25c blue, thin paper, three singles, Guadalajara, cons 3782, on 10c-10c-5c Hidalgo compound entire to Cordova, 1883 certified usage with grid and "0" handstamps canceling, Guadalajara certification boxed date stamp, transit and receiving date stamps; entire missing backflap, Very Fine.

Mexico, 1881, Hidalgo Profile, 100c carmine, thin paper, Zacatecas, cons 280, on registered front to Pinos dated May 1884, tied by blue grid handstamp with matching boxed "Franco" handstamp and Fresnillo box date stamp, bold Fresnillo certification date stamp at center; couple small edge nicks, still Very Fine, probably 75 registered fronts exist of this issue exist, they are all fronts as the postal rules required the addressee to sign as proof of receipt.

Mexico, 1882, Foreign Mail 2nd Issue (Juarez), 10c brown, imperf, complete sheet of 100, no gum, bright and fresh, some minor wrinkling trivial selvage flaws, still Very Fine, This stamp was not issued as the official color needed to be blue in accordance to the UPU (no photo).
