Philippines, 1835 Earliest Cape Route to Boston, Manila, July 15 1835 dateline on stampless folded letter, carried to Boston, Mass., incoming New York and SHIP red handstamps with manuscript "39 ½" rate (37 ½ for inland and 2 cents ship fee) carried via private American sailing ship via Cape of Good Hope route, couple minor stains, Very Fine, earliest known cover carried to the U.S. via the westbound route.

Philippines, 1841-42 Two Stampless Covers to England, 1st;1841 INDIA LETTER-COWES folded letter, Manila to Manchester via Batavia through India, dateline Manila 19 June 1841, Manchester receiving of NOV 9 1841, INDIA LETTER applied at Cowes, Isle of Wight; 2nd; folded letter from RUSSELL & STURGIS of Manila docketed January 29, 1842 to London, included printed statement of exports for 1840 and 1841 plus handwritten commercial letter, also handwritten (per) Garland Grive, rated 8 (pence) with boxed KINKSBRIDGE / SHIP LETTER handstamp in black and red, London receiving of 27 June 1842 in red (5 month transit time), both in excellent condition, Very Fine.

Jul 31 1857" cds with matching SHIP 3 handstamp, carried by American Bark Fanny Major from S.F. on Aug. 1 and arriving into Honolulu on Aug. 16, ink erosion, a Fine cover and rarely seen.

Philippines, 1857 (22 Apr) Folded Letter from Sres Matia Menchacatore & Co. in Manila to Their Office in Cadiz, Spain, via an agent in Gibraltar, endorsed "Via Suez", forwarded by Lyal Still and Co. (oval cachet) in Hong Kong and showing (unusually) their numbered handstamp at front with fine "Paid at Hong Kong" crowned circle in red, also a Hong Kong date stamp in black, plus transit markings from Malta and Gibraltar, rated 3/8d in crayon, scarce and attractive item.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.
