Fremont Campaign Cover, portrait in black with Sheppard Clark and Company Imprint, franked with 1851 3¢ rose tied on cover to East Middleborough, Mass. by indistinct cds, additional enameled campaign label at upper right, The doe-faces fawn, on "Old Buck". All in the family., Very Fine. Milgram Nos. JF-21.

The campaign label refers to John C. Frémont and his wife, Jessie Benton and to Buchanan's nickname "Old Buck" and his belief in Mormonism and polygamy.
