1867, 3¢ rose, A. grill, surprisingly well centered with only a couple of blunt perfs, canceled by segmented cork cancel on cover with "Leavenworth, Kans. Aug 21" cds alongside, addressed to North San Juan, Cal., cover forwarded to Marysville with "North San Juan, Cal. Sep 21" forwarding cds, Extremely Fine; with 2000 P.F. certificate.

ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLES OF THIS VERY DIFFICULT STAMP ON COVER. TYPICALLY THESE ALL-OVER GRILLS WOULD RESULT IN A BADLY DEFECT STAMP.

1867, 3¢ rose, C. grill, remarkably well centered with wide balanced margins, deep rich color on bright paper, long and full perforations all around, bold quartered cork cancel beautifully accentuates the clear grill points, an Extremely Fine gem, ex-Blocker, Natalie-Grace; with 1989 and 2004 P.F., 2012 P.S.E. certificates, latter Graded (XF 90, SMQ $3,000).

A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1867 3¢ C GRILL IN THIS EXTRAORDINARY CONDITION, AN REMARKABLE STAMP IN EVERY RESPECT.

1867, 2¢ black, Z. grill, neat red circle of wedges and partial town cancels, beautifully centered amid large well balanced margins, strong bold color on bright fresh paper, clear full grill impression, Extremely Fine to Superb, with only two graded higher at 98; with 2003, 2005 P.S.E. & 2021 P.F. certificates, the latter two Graded (XF-Sup 95, SMQ $10,000).

1867, 3¢ rose, Z. grill, neat rosette and partial town cancel, exceptional centering amid uncommonly large and beautifully balanced margins, rich bold color on bright fresh paper, Extremely Fine to Superb, this is the only example Graded XF-Superb, with only one example graded higher at 98; with 1982 P.F. & 2009 P.S.E. certificates, the latter Graded (XF-Sup 95, SMQ $12,500).

WITHOUT QUESTION - ONE TO THE FINEST KNOWN EXAMPLES OF THE 1867 3¢ Z. GRILL ISSUES.

The far majority of 3¢ Z. grills are off centered with design well into perfs, faulty, or both. This example is among only a few examples that are well centered and one of the few possessing wide well balanced margins.
