1869, 1¢ buff, in combination with 1870, 3¢ green, horizontal pair and single (147) on 1861, 10¢ green entire (U41) to Leipzig, Germany, all tied cork cancels with matching Peoria, Ill., Aug 20 cds, red "New York, Paid All, Br. Transit, Aug 24" exchange cds and transit backstamps, manuscript 1870 docketing on front; small edge nick at bottom left, Very Fine, an lovely mixed issue franking usage; with 1996 P.S.E. certificate.

1869, 2¢ brown, Large Part Sheet of 110 (10 x 11) showing full sheet margin and Plate "No. 27" Block with Imprint at top, natural s.e. at left, perfs touching or slightly in, fresh o.g., mostly never hinged, beautiful bright shade and proof-like impression, some perfs separations at edges with minor hinge reinforcement, light crease through Plate No. Block & light horiz. bend affecting 9th row, Fine and attractive.

AN IMPRESSIVE 1869 PICTORIAL MULTIPLE, APART FROM THE 3¢ 1869 (WHICH EXISTS IN SHEETS), ONE OF THE LARGEST BLOCKS OF THE 1869 ISSUE AND HAS NOT APPEARED ON THE AUCTION MARKET SINCE A 1982 SIEGEL RARITIES OF THE WORLD AUCTION.

The 1869 mono chrome issues (1¢ - 12¢) were printed in sheets of 300 and divided into two panes of 150 examples. Whereas the 1869 Bi-Color issues (15¢ - 90¢) were printed in sheets of 100.

This sheet represents a portion of the right pane showing the dividing arrows on the fifth and 10th rows. It is thought that these guide arrows were placed so that the sheets of 150 could be easily divided by the Post Office into blocks of 50 examples.

1869, 2¢ brown, single in combination with two vert. pairs and single 10¢ Bank Note + two Cuba 50p Green on 1875 cover to Spain, Cuban adhesives tied by "Habana 17 Abr 75" double circle & United States adhesives tied by N. York Steamship Apr 22 cds's, light horiz cover fold through 2¢ 1869 and Cuban stamps, some flap damage on reverse, otherwise Very Fine.

Butler" at Callao, Peru, all tied by quartered cork handstamps with "Bath, Me., Feb 23" origin cds on reverse, red "12" credit handstamp; strip with natural s.e. at right, Very Fine.

1869, 3¢ ultramarine, four singles on overpaid 1870 folded cover (missing part of top & left flap) from New York to Paris, tied by geometric cancels with red "New York Mar. 22" cds alongside, three France 40c Orange Empire Laure tied by blue French entry marking Etats-Unis Cherbourg 2 Avril 70 with additional strike at right, cover with small defect at top left, Very Fine; with 2013 Calves & Jacquart certificate.

A UNIQUE COMBINATION COVER DESTINED FOR AN OUTSTANDING EXHIBITION COLLECTION.

Carried by HAPAG Line steamer "Cimria" departing New York City on Mar. 22 to Plymouth, arriving April 1 and then onward to Cherbourg arriving on the 3rd of April. The French adhesives paid the double 60 centimes inland rate with the 10¢ United States rate overpaid by 2¢.
