Lot 2324 /o

Worldwide, Collection, 1860-1990's, this lovely 11 volume collection was formed by a zoologist who clearly really enjoyed her stamps and their connection to her life's work as a university professor. The stamps here are as diverse as their subject matter and one will find animals here that they have never seen before, much less on a stamp, but our collector probably knew of and loved them all. Issues are arranged according to species and represent a lot of exotic countries and not just Africa, though these countries are certainly well represented, but also less often seen like North Borneo and Labuan, early Liberia, plus Asian and Latin American areas, Atlantic, Greenland, East Europe, etc. This colorful lot is a pleasure to view, and also contains 2 red boxed with mint sets still awaiting mounting in albums and these include many complete sets including definitions with high values and often are duplicated with many attractive items here as well, with 5- to 60- range items abounding throughout, much never hinged. One album contains dozens of die proofs, many signed by the artist with French cols predominating here. Cat value here sure to exceed $22,700- all of it fresh, clean, most never hinged. (See website for images).
Estimate    $4,000 - 6,000.
