New Zealand, Queen Victoria "Chalon Head" Collection Balance, 1862-73, of approximately 350 stamps mounted and identified on quadrille pages encompassing the 1864-71 large star watermark perf 12½ issues, 1871-73 color change issues including the later provisional papers; starting with 1864-71 1d issues with nice range of shades and a couple mint, used 2d issues with plate I issues showing uniform wear, 3d with used shades and additional mint single and pair, scarce 4d deep rose x3 used, 4d yellow including couple mint in shades, 6d with a host of shades and 6 mint singles, and 1sh with 4 mint in the yellow green shades and used in various shades, 1871-73 color change issues with 1d with a couple used perf 10 issues, 10x12½ issues with a nice showing of mint and used in shades and a couple used compound perf singles, nice section of 2d 10x12½ issues with a couple mint and varieties including retouch, shades, compound perfs (x3), double perfs and watermark vars., good 12½ perf issues including nice section of 6d issues including mint pair, provisional unwatermarked issues with 1d used x3, 2d including two mint pairs and 4d x2 mint, also includes representation in the scarcer 2d "N.Z.", "TH Saunders" & "Invicta" watermarks; S.G. catalog in excess of £40,000.Estimate $3,000 - 4,000.
