The cover originated at San Jose de la Parrilla which had no post office at that time and entered the mails at Nombre de Dios, the rate is for less than 15 grams carried under 45 miles.

Mexico, 1864, Eagle (3rd Period), 1r ultramarine, Guanajuato, cons 217-1864, sub 4 (defective corner) slightly overlapping 1864, Eagle (3rd Period), 2r orange, Guanajuato, cons 217-1864, sub 1, used on 1865 folded letter from Leon to France by British packet, paying internal rate only to Veracruz where the letter was handed over to the British packet agency and their double circle struck on the reverse, boxed "GB/1F60c" accountancy mark on face handstruck "8" (decimes postage due), London transit on reverse, stamps cancelled by Leon fancy mute (Schatzkes 502) with Leon cds (Schatzkes 503); cover with a couple of minor stains, F.-V.F. and rare.
