"Way" of Wilmington, Del., straightline in circle, two complete strikes tie 1857 3¢ on choice cover to Baltimore, Extremely Fine.

Typed enclosure signed Stanley B Ashbrook, "The 'Way' is the rare Wilmington, Del. and is a beautiful example. I doubt if I have seen half a dozen covers with this marking."

Pre-Paid "Way" folded cover to New Orleans, manuscript "Way" on 1853 folded cover from Mobile, Ala, to New Orleans franked with 1851 1¢ Blue + 3¢ Dull Red tied by bold grid with red "New Orleans Jan 2" cds at left, stamps well margined, each with tiny hidden flaw, still Very Fine, scarce pre-paid.

Prepaid "Way", bold straightline handstamp on folded letter datelined "New Orleans, La, June 14 1852" to Petersburg, Va, franked with 1851 1¢ blue + 3¢ dull red tied by "Montgomery, Ala" cds with integral "5", additional blue grid on both, 1¢ cut into & 3¢ sheet margin at right, cover with horizontal filefold, Very Fine, scarce pre-payment.

"Way" straightline handstamps, nine covers/folded letters with various "Way" markings include two with manuscript cancels (one with "Way Letter Unpaid 1ct"), most with 1851-57 3¢ issues, includes: blue Baltimore, black Baltimore, blue "Way" in circle (no town), Montgomery, Ala Willimantic, Ct, large straightline, some minor stamp/cover flaws, F.-V.F., an attractive group.
