1926, May 9 - Byrd North Pole Flight, Roessler flight cover signed "R E Byrd", 2¢ carmine tied by "NY - Alesund, 9.V.26" cds with second strike alongside, additional Norway 3ö and 5ö Amundsen issues tied by "Kings Bay, 9V 26" cds's, otherwise Very Fine, a rare flown cover signed by Richard E. Byrd on one of the first cover to flown across the North Pole, AAMC $1,500 without signature premium.
AAMC No. 1039    Estimate $600 - 800.

Commander Richard E. Byrd, accompanied by Floyd Bennett where the first to fly over the North Pole. They took off from Kings Bay, flew to the North Pole and returned in 14 hours. Only a few of the flown covers where signed by Byrd with only one known signed by pilot Floyd Bennett.

Wyman, 1844, 5¢ black, two singles, large margins, left stamp with trivial faint crease along the top margin, manuscript canceled, on folded letter datelined "Boston, January 28, 1845" addressed to New York, with red oval "Overton & Co's City Mail, Office, 3 Broad Street" handstamp, Extremely Fine, ex-Geisler; signed Costales, with 1987 and 2009 P.F. certificates.

ONE OF ONLY THREE COVERS KNOWN OF THE WYMAN LOCOMOTIVE ISSUE USED DURING THE OVERTON & CO. PERIOD AND ONLY ONE BEARING A DOUBLE RATE FRANKING.

There is only one other double rate franking known which was used during the Wyman period.
