Portugal, - Nearly Complete Used, 1853-1971, extensive collection in Scott album; includes 1865 5r - appears to be corner margin single (#5), few early covers, complete 1895 St. Anthony set, etc.; this collection was painstakingly put together with an eye for quality; Rarely offered so complete; ISPS Certificate for #5 (shallow thin).

Portugal, Stock, 1853-2006, identified and priced on dealer cards in two stock boxes; mostly useful issues with some better including mixed condition classics, strength in early used classics and later mint definitive runs, little back-of-the-book and minor colonies issues; modest to slightly heavy duplication to be expected, owner's catalog value $10,819, condition varies mostly confined to early issues, please inspect.

Portugal, Used Collection, two volumes, 1853-1989, an extensive high quality used collection, a lot of midrange early material like King Luiz issues nearly complete, 1894 500r and 1000r Prince Henry high values, strong Ceres issues and missing few from 1923-1984; difficult to duplicate.
Estimate    $1,000 - 1,500.

Lot 4101    

Portugal, Collection, 1853-199, in 6 volumes. Lindner hingeless pages, binders, slipcases, etc., all in mint condition. The pages start at 1853, while the stamps start at 1910, with a complete King Manuel II set, then complete overprints of the same, 1911 mostly complete, 1917 complete except for 30c, and a high degree of completion from this point on except for most souvenir sheets and other expensive items. Early stamps are a mix of mint and used, while the later ones are generally mint NH or cancelled to order. Estimated $5,000 catalog for the stamps, and the albums would cost about $2,000 new.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Portugal, Collection, both mint and used issues neatly arranged on stockpages in three Lighthouse binders with pleasant duplication throughout; with issues from Scott #1-833 with earlier issues mostly used but with some parallel */o represented and a high degree of completion of issues, St. Anthony set complete used with additional mint and used values and many of the better later set complete mint, strong showing of back-of-the-book issues and a section of souvenir sheets including all the better early seem to be present mint; nice material throughout, please inspection.

Portugal & Colonies, Collection, 1853-1980's, predominately used housed in two Scott albums; starting Portugal with strong 19th century appearing complete with some modest duplication, including the 1895 St. Anthony set complete, strong later Ceres issues and later completion missing only most of the good souvenir sheets, Colonies a bit sparser but includes some good areas including Azores first issues, useful Macao, some completion in Mozambique Company, etc.; condition varies mostly confined to early issues, worth careful review.

Portugal & Colonies, Collection, substantial mint and used collection from 1853, including twenty-three (23) colonies, in two Scott albums, early Scott numbers for Portugal and almost every colony beginning with Queen Maria II through 1961. Large selections for Madeira, Azores, St. Thomas and India, almost all mint hinged from the 1880's on for all countries, many complete sets including 14 souvenir sheet for Portugal alone (some stuck down), all countries include Air some with the 1939 N.Y. Expo overprint issue, postage dues and tax stamps; mixed condition, generally hinged, few minor faults possible, generally clean, with owner's cat a bit over $42,000, worth proper review.
Estimate    $4,000 - 6,000.
