Mexico, 1856, First Issue, ½r blue, without district overprint, block of 20, o.g., margins mostly large to touching a couple stamps, fresh with bold color, vertical crease between 3rd and 4th row, Very Fine, an impressive mint multiple, multiples of any first issue are scarce (NF $1,740).

Mexico, 1856, First Issue, ½r blue, Puebla, unrecorded "Puebla" small oval cancel, Very Fine, possibly the finest known.
Scott No. 1    Estimate $100 - 150.

This device is said to have been a survivor from the Colonial Era and is believed to be the origin of the large district overprint (with oval removed) used on the 1861 issue. Perhaps as few as five examples are known.

Mexico, 1856, First Issue, ½r blue, San Luis Potosi, postal fraud usage with stamp previous canceled by indistinct circular town cancel, tied by 1857 circular San Luis Potosi date stamp (Schatzkes 1443) paying the circular rate to Mexico, Very Fine.
