Radial of Vinion, Iowa, sharp complete socked-on-the-nose strike on 1857, 3¢ dull red (26) showing double perfs at right, on cover to Morgantown, Va. with "Vinion, Ioa., Apr 16" cds, several 1861 docketings, Very Fine, similar to Skinner-Eno illustration except without filled circle at center, ex-Saadi.

Lot 1944    

Rutland & Troy R.R. Clerk's Fancy Cancel, wonderful strike of "Morrison Tr 34 N" clerk's fancy canceller ties 3¢ Bank Note on cover with light strike of Agent cds alongside, Very Fine and rare, ex-E. Haub.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

"Morrison" was the mail clerk on Train 34 and "N" designates North. This is the only known railroad mail clerk using his name as a cancelling device.
