Ecuador, (Quilichao) Quiliciao, red boxed postmark on folded letter sheet to Popayan, with matching "Franca" straight line handstamp and manuscript "1" rating, Very Fine and choice, a very late use of this Colonial mark which date back to 1776 from this small town north of Popayan, then in the State of Ecuador.
Estimate    $400 - 600.

Lot 53    

Ecuador, Sosoranga, Republica De Columbia, Franca, bold fancy oval handstamp on ca. 1832 folded letter sheet to President Flores in Quito; cover with bottom flap missing, a Very Fine and choice strike, one of the rarest "Republic De Columbia" postmarks from this small town, of which not more than five in existence.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Lot 54    

Ecuador, Tulcan, Republica De Columbia, Franca, red fancy oval postmark on folded letter sheet addressed to General Flores in Quito, with manuscript "Servico" endorsement at top; cover with some light spotting, still Very Fine, very rare with perhaps three known examples of this pre-stamp mark.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Lot 55    

Ecuador, (Tuquerres) Tuqers., brownish condensed straight line postmark on folded letter datelined "Octe 22, 1822" and addressed to Quito, manuscript "1½" rating at right, Very Fine, this Colonial mark is from the Popayan Province, then a part of Ecuador.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

This letter was sent to General Antonio de Sucre, The Liberator of Ecuador, and discusses the final campaigns against the Spaniards near Pasto.
