Aug 6th, manuscript postmark on 1862 small cover to New York, franked with demonetized 3¢ 1857 adhesive with manuscript canceled "1862"; additional manuscript "Due 3" added at Davidsville, New York, as the stamp had been demonetized in Colorado Territory on December 1, 1861, minor staining affecting cover & perfs of adhesive, sealed cover tear at left affecting postmark, F.-V.F., a very rare postmark, illustrated in Jarrett's Colorado book.Estimate $500 - 750.

St. Vrain, named for Ceran St. Vrain a pioneer mountain man and trader, is now an abandoned townsite in Weld County. It was located near the historic Fort Saint Vrain trading post at the confluence of St. Vrain Creek and the South Platte River.
