Texas covers, a large assemblage of over 300 covers ranging from the 1840s-1850s stampless period to the early 20th Century. It starts with a dozen or more stampless, including Clarksville, Point Isabel, Waco Village, and Lynchburg, with the postmaster's initials in the CDS (early county-postmaster cancel). Then after that are many from the 1850s through the Bank Note period, including many DPO's, some nice advertising covers, Forts, Registered, RPO's, auxiliary markings, etc. Towns include Phantom Hill, Mercer's Gap, Waugh's Rancho, Sisterdale, Pleasant Point, Brazos Santiago, and more Almost all are sleeved and some written up. Much history and enjoyment here.

Texas covers with county and postmaster cancels, an impressive collection of over 80 covers all with various cancels used widely by small town postmasters in Texas in the 1870-1890 period. The group starts with a couple of stampless covers, one a CDS from Wheelock, Robertson County, the first known Texas county/Postmaster marking, and the other from Lynchburg, with the postmaster's initials replacing the month/day indicia's in the CDS. Others include an 1857 San Elizario, El Paso County manuscript. Marking with Butterfield Overland Mail routing. Some registered, some foreign destinations, some fancy; The previous owner spent decades on these and then wrote a catalog of them, a copy of which accompanies this lot.

New Orleans" double oval, Velasco, Tex. cds with matching "Due 5" at right on cover addressed to Jamestown, Texas plus others, a fascinating group, overall condition is good, please inspect.
