1847, 5¢ red brown, clear to large margins, small edge flaws, canceled by circular grid handstamp on ornate gold on enamel Valentine cover with scroll "Forget-me-not" address panel, to Harrisburg, Va., red "Boston, 10cts, Feb 13" cds and manuscript "due 5" at top center; cover with light horizontal fold, otherwise Very Fine, with certificate stating there is no indication the stamp did not originate on this cover (Boston did use this exact black grid with this red postmark during this period); with 2012 Sismondo certificate.

1847, 5¢ red brown, vertical pair, four large margins, tied by red circular grid handstamps on cover to New Sweden, N.Y., matching "Cincinnati, O., 10 (Feb) 14" cds, manuscript "Missent & Forwd" notation, with Valentine enclosure, tiny pinhole in top stamp, bottom stamp described in the past as, "minute tear in margin at bottom", however this looks to be nothing more than a slight blemish, Extremely Fine appearance, ex-Weill Brothers Stock; signed Ashbrook on reverse.
