New York, N.Y., 1846, 5¢ black on bluish, signed "ACM" connected, two singles, clear to large margins, slightly overlapping on folded letter sheet to Pittsburgh, Pa., tied by red "New York, 10 cts, Jan 23" integral rate cds and square grid handstamps, two strikes of matching arched "Paid" handstamp; right stamp lifted and hinged back in place, Very Fine.

New York, N.Y., 1846, 5¢ black on bluish, signed "ACM", "AC" connected, Position 28, full to large, even margins, fresh, proof-like impression and rich color, tied by unobtrusive red "PAID" in arc cancel on cover to Lakeville, Conn. by matching red "New York Feb. 25" (1847) cds, the cover with light central bleed through of the wax seal on the back, Extremely Fine and choice, the stamp extremely fine and choice, especially so without usual pen cancel, lifted by the P.F. Graded VF-XF 85, and remounted with hinge; with two 2024 P.F. certificates (one for cover & one for stamp).
