1851, 3¢ orange brown, type I, margins ample to just in, faint crease, tied by 13-bar square grid handstamp (SD-G 93) on 1851 folded letter from Baltimore to Providence, R.I., with magenta "New York, Jul 7" cds alongside along with red "Baltimore R.R." straight line handstamp (PM-RR 4), Very Fine, a scarce Baltimore railroad usage of the 3¢ orange brown used during the first week of usage; with 2016 P.F. certificate.

1851, 3¢ orange brown, type II, Position 19L5E, large margins all around include adjacent stamps at top and bottom, tied by bright green grid cancel, postmarked matching "Holderness N.H., Jul 5" cds on circa 1852 orange buff cover to Woodstock N.Y., Very Fine and choice green cancel use, ex-Allen.

Use of Plate 5 is not known before July 19, 1851, so this is either an EKU or more likely a very late use of this orange brown plate given no stamps were supplied in the vicinity of this origin. However, it is a sharp impression from an early printing.
