Hawaii, Revenue, 1893-94, 20¢ on 25¢ green, double surcharge, one gold, one red with single added letter "c", red 20mm wide surcharge with "Republic Of Hawaii" serifed, "C" showing outer trace of black ink, faint purple cancels, bold color, F.-V.F., listed (erroneously in mint condition) but unpriced in Scott catalog, ex-Honolulu Advertiser.

THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE THE 1893 25¢ REVENUE WITH 20¢ GOLD & RED DOUBLE SURCHARGE WITH SINGLE "C" LETTER ADDED.

The reason for adding a "C" in the overprint is not clear. In the two known examples, the "C" overprint is in combination with the 20mm wide red experimental surcharge. In both, a single "C" was printed below "CENTS".
