The 1¢ Green on White carrier stamp is the rarest of the Baltimore semi-official carrier stamps. Many of the examples on cover are uncanceled or canceled only by manuscript or pencil.

The Striding Messenger stamp is the world's first pictorial postage stamp, and it was issued by the Philadelphia Despatch Post, later operated by D. O. Blood & Co. The stamp shows an oversized courier striding across the city with a mailbag labeled "City Despatch Post," symbolically emphasizing the service's speed and efficiency - a marketing message aimed at competing with the official postal system.
