Alameda County covers, 1878-1907. 33 covers and 8 postcards; includes bold 1885 Mission San Jose (ALA-2708), 1886 Pleasanton octagon (ALA-4403), purple oval 1881 San Leandro (ALA-4520) with fancy negative "SL" cancel, 1886 Sunol Glen (ALA-4830) on cover to Ireland, purple 1878 Livermore (ALA-2240) on allover Livermore College illustrated cover, other early postmarks including Mills Seminary, Brooklyn (various types), Alameda, Berkeley, Alvarado, etc., condition a little mixed, F.-V.F. overall.

Drum Barracks, May 6./67 (Los Angeles). Manuscript military postmark on cover to New York City, entered the mails with "Wilmington, Cal., Jun 7, 1867" cds, franked with 1861 3¢ rose (defects) with manuscript and grid cancels, cover wear and reduced left, Fine, a rare usage from this facility that severed as the Union Army Headquarters in the Southwest from 1861 to 1871.
