Imprint on 1864 patriotic cover with illustration of light artillery, franked with 1861 3¢ tied by target with Washington, D.C. double circle postmark alongside, included is matching illustrated letterhead with letter written & signed by Knap, letter written to Miss Sophie H. Day, who later that year would become his wife, flap missing, Very Fine.

All over design in gray on cover franked with 1861 3¢ tied by Washington, D.C. cds, cover overprinted with second patriotic design in blue showing soldiers with flag, lengthy letter datelined, "Carver Barrack, Meridian Hill, March 14, 1862", letter talks of Military escort, "Our Company was called upon to escort the dead body of General Lander from the house of Secretary Chase to the Episcopal Church and thence to the depot…That day I had the pleasure of seeing General McClellan, the man which I have long had a desire for to see, also Abraham Lincoln and several other great men.", one page of letter on patriotic Lettersheet in red, white & blue, Very Fine.
