[Mississippi Terr.] Natchez, March 7th (1804). Manuscript postmark on folded letter to Washington, Pa., manuscript "25" rate at right, letter datelined "Bayou Sarah, Feby 28th 1804" (Spanish West Florida) from David Bradford, a prominent leader of the Pennsylvania Whiskey Rebellion of 1794, to David Redick who was a prominent statesman and active in the rebellion against the whiskey tax, Very Fine.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

The 1794 rebellion was subdued by forces sent by President George Washington with Bradford escaping to Spanish West Florida.

[Missouri Terr.] Cantonment Bay of St. Louis, July 28th 1820. Dateline on "free" franked folded letter to Col. G. Gibson in Washington D.C. from Lt. Col. Zachary Taylor, letter regarding officer in Commissary Department charging officers excessively for subsistence rations, letter signed "Z Taylor Lt. Col., 8th Regt. U.S. Infy. Comdg.", cover opened for display and reinforced fold splits, Fine.

[Missouri Terr.] Fort Laramie, Jun 28th 49. Dateline on folded letter to Springfield, Mo., carried to Fort Leavenworth where it was put in the mails with "Fort Leavenworth, Mo., Aug 25" cds and matching large "5" rate handstamp, page letter from young emigrant in wagon train en route to California, Very Fine, one of the earliest pre-territorial letters from Fort Laramie which had been purchased and renamed by the U.S. government two days earlier, on Jun 28th 1849.

[Missouri Terr.] St. Louis, Missouri, May 22d, 1844. Dateline on letter to Lieut Col. E.A. Hitchcock at Fort Jesup, Louisiana, from Col. S.W. Kearney famous explorer and conqueror of New Mexico and California in 1846, historical military field letter reporting on affairs at Ft. Leavenworth and to the possible vote of Senate for the pending Texas treaty which lead to Texas statehood in 1845, cover endorsed "favd by Lieut Williamson" and "S.D.A. Laiton with respect" in pencil, Very Fine.
