Hawaii, King Kamahameha IV. Autograph cipher at lower left of mourning cover with Royal Crest on flap addressed to "Her Majesty, The Queen Emma, Laihaina" in May, 1863, black "Honolulu Hawaiian Islands May 13" postmark, their son Albert had died in August, 1862, cover seems to have had a stamp originally applied and removed & then endorsed "Free" and "30 Castle Palace" across top, the later has been crossed out, cover minor stain and crease, Very Fine and rare, an exceptional usage.

Hawaii, 1846, "The Friend" Honolulu newspapers. Two 8-page papers from November 2 and December 1, interesting content regarding California, shipping, etc., some clipping in lower right corners, otherwise Very Fine (no photo).

Bold cds on small 1852 cover to Paris, France, red crayon "28" manuscript rate, carried by the steamship George Washington to San Francisco, with blue "San Francisco, Cal, Dec 1" cds with matching "Paid" handstamp, red New York exchange and red Paris entry cds's, "8" decimes due handstamp and Paris receiving backstamp, Extremely Fine. Meyer-Harris No. 236.05.
Estimate    $7,500 - 10,000.

An extremely rare usage from Hawaii to Paris, France and one of only ten known usages from Hawaii with the blue San Francisco town postmark.
