Company frank with scarce italic Victoria, Vancouver Island underprint on mint entire franked with unused British Columbia 1865-67 3d deep blue, Extremely Fine, Wells Fargo used these underprints on envelopes without embossed USA postage when it became possible to prepay postage to USA with colonial stamps.

Partially clear handstamp indicating Colonial postage paid and double oval "Paid" handstamp on cover to England, red crayon "29" indicating amount of US postage prepaid in Victoria, red "San Francisco Apr 20 1860" postmark and manuscript "29" rate (24¢ plus 5¢ for California), black "19" credit, cover edge wear, F.-V.F., a nice early usage, ex-Dale-Lichtenstein.
