1851, 1¢ blue, type II. blue "Philadelphia, Pa." town cancels, large even margins, beautiful rich vibrant plate one early color, an Extremely Fine gem, a gorgeous example; with 2005 P.S.E. graded certificate (XF-Sup 95).

1851, 1¢ blue, type II. Horizontal strip of 3 (positions 56-58R2), right stamp showing double transfer at bottom and small plate crack at top right, light town cancels, huge even margins, rich color and a wonderful detailed impression, 2002 certificate mentions tiny creases at top which appear to natural and trivial at best, an Extremely Fine gem, a wonderful showpiece multiple; with 2002 P.F. certificate and clean 1969 P.F. certificate.

Positions 77-78R4, horizontal pair, left stamp type IIIa and right stamp type III, neat "Mobile, Ala." town cancel, large well balanced margins, gorgeous rich color and a sharp proof-like impression enhancing and clearly showing the type III-IIIa characteristics, an Extremely Fine gem, an outstanding pair in both condition and rarity and certainly among the finest 1851 1¢ type III-IIIa combination pairs known; with 2005 P.F. certificate.

Town cancel, enormous margins with portions of adjacent stamps at sides and significant portion of adjacent stamp below, bold bright color, Extremely Fine and choice, a lovely jumbo margin stamp, this stamp was used in a recent P.S.E. Stamp Market Quarterly to illustrate an example of a typical grade of 95J; with 1987, 2005 P.F. certificates and 2005 P.S.E. certificate.

Horizontal pair, full original gum, barest trace of hinging, a spectacular pair with gargantuan margins encompassing significant portions of adjacent stamps all around, bright vibrant color on fresh paper, a Superb jumbo gem, a phenomenal mint pair and without question one of the finest in existence; with 2004 P.S.E. certificate.

1856, 5¢ red brown. Light "New Orleans" cds postmark, four enormous even margins with deep, rich color and sharp early impression, an Extremely Fine gem, this is one of the finest used examples we have ever offered; with 1963 and 1998 P.F. certificates.

This is a notoriously difficult stamp to find in this choice condition as most examples are cut in or touched. When a four margin example is found, more often than not, the margins have been cut at an angle and do not have this wonderful "boxed" appearance.
