1¢ blue, two singles + 3¢ rose. Each mounted on 5¢ William Newton & Co. Merchant's Price Postage Currency, unused stamps with perforations trimmed as usual, currency with light creases and tiny tear at top, Very Fine, a very scarce and seldom encountered postage currency; with 2005 P.F. certificate.

1861, 3¢ rose. Wonderful fresh original gum which has been very lightly hinged once, perfectly centered amid large evenly balanced margins, bright vivid color, pristine Post Office freshness, Superb, a truely magnificent gem, rarely encountered so choice even for this relatively common issue; with photocopy of 1996 P.F. certificate for pair.

1861, 10¢ yellow green. Face-free grid corner cancel, precision centering amid large well balanced margins, rich bright color and crisp impression, Superb, a sensational gem for the most discriminating collector; with 1989 P.F. certificate and 2003 P.S.E. graded certificate (Superb 98).
Scott No. 68    $55.

This is one of two examples attaining the grade of Superb 98 in the P.S.E. Population Report, with none higher.

1861, 12¢ black. Neat central strike of a blue "Cincinnati, O." town cancel, exceptional centering amid large and beautifully balanced margins, intense shade and a sharp detailed impression, an Extremely Fine gem, a striking and immensely attractive stamp; with 1996 and 2005 P.F. certificates.

2c black. Block of 4, full fresh o.g. which has been lightly hinged once at top and bottom, well centered, rich color and beautiful impression, bright and very fresh, a couple of minor perf separations at top, Extremely Fine and choice, a lovely multiple rarely encountered in this condition; with 2005 P.F. certificate.

1862, 5¢ red brown. Light grid cancel, perfectly centered with deep fiery color, an Extremely Fine gem, a stunning example of this very tough stamp; with 1998 P.F. certificate.

1863, 24¢ lilac. Neat blue target cancel, beautifully centered amid enormous margins, lovely vibrant color and uncommonly sharp impression, a Superb jumbo, an phenomenal jumbo and striking gem of which few could equal; with 1998, 2004 P.F. certificates and 2005 P.S.E. graded certificate (Superb Jumbo 98J).
Scott No. 78    $200.

This is the highest graded stamp in the P.S.E. Population Report and will undoubtedly remain there for quite some time. While later issues will have the previous highest grade eclipsed, a truly rare stamp such as this, has few, if any equal.
