Oroville & Quincy Express Co. Red and black printed frank at top of 1874, 3¢ green entire to San Francisco, Cal., reverse with violet "A.D. McIntyre & Co., Greenville, Plumas Co., Cal." sender's oval handstamp; cover with small tone spots and slight reduction at right, F.-V.F., a very rare express frank, pictured in Nathan.
Scott No. U163    Estimate $400 - 600.

This short-lived express company operated in 1874 from Oroville to Quincy as well as from Greenville, Cresent City and Taylorsville.

Oroville & Susanville Express. Bold blue double oval on 1864-65 3¢ entire with black Wells, Fargo & Co. company frank & blue oval handstamp of "Oroville", small corner defect at bottom right, Very Fine and rare, ex-Liechtenstein, only a few known.

Pacific Express Co. Horse and rider frank (Haller FP1, Ty. 2) on 3¢ Red Nesbitt entire (U10) addressed to "Noisy Carriers Hall, San Francisco", wax seals on back indicate paste-up usage, Extremely Fine and unusual.

Pacific Express Co. Horse and rider frank (Haller P1, Ty. 1) on 3¢ Red Nesbitt entire (U9) to Stockton Cal., "Pacific Express Co. Mok. Hill Mar. 21" oval datestamp, manuscript docketing, faint toning mostly on back edges, still Very Fine, a scarce early frank.

Pacific Express Co. Printed frank (Haller FP2, Ty. 2) on 2¢ Green entire (U311) to St. Louis Mo., entered the mails with "Paris Tex. Oct. 15 4PM 1888" circular datestamp and quartered cork cancel, receiving backstamp, slightly reduced at right, fresh and Very Fine, although this 1880's and 90's express company's franks are common in unused condition, used examples are very scarce, this Type 2 frank is rare.

Blue double circle handstamp on 1853-55 3¢ Nesbitt entire to "Big Bar, Middle Fork American River" (never a PO, Big Bar PO was in Trinity County) with matching blue large oval "Paid", manuscript "Via George Town", trivial staining, still Very Fine, a scarce Pacific Express handstamp, ex-Emerson, Knapp (with Parke-Bernet label hinged on) and Barkhausen.
